ORDIT

What is ORDIT?

This is a scheme run by the Department of Transport (Driving Standards Agency) and the Driver Training industry. To be an ORDIT member, the organisation concerned has to pass a rigorous inspection and ongoing assessment process. This examines the standard of training and the quality of facilities offered by the school. It also requires members to abide by a prescribed code of practice as detailed at the end of the course guide opposite.

To be admitted to this register and to remain listed, training establishments have to agree to thorough independent inspections. Supervising Examiners (ADI) from the DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT (Driving Standards Agency) specially trained and selected for the task, carry out these assessments.

By choosing an establishment on this directory, trainee instructors can be assured that the following criteria have been fulfilled.

Premises

Premises that are used for ADI training or re-training will be suitable and conform to the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and any other statutory legislation, appropriate to the number of trainees.

Vehicles

Any vehicles used will be suitable for the purpose and conform to all relevant statutory requirements.

Training

The needs of each trainee will be individually assessed. All approved training given by the establishment will be structured so as to ensure that all the topics covered by the requirements of ADI registration are taught. There will be continuous assessment of each trainee's progress. There can be no major errors or omissions in the subject matter or the manner in which it is being taught.

Administration

Full records of each person trained will be properly maintained; the ORDIT code of practice strictly adhered to and displayed at the establishment's premises and a copy will be given to all course participants.

NVQ ACCREDITATION

CIA is an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) accredited training company. This means that should you wish or need to do so you will be eligible to register for the award of an NVQ Level Three in driving instruction.
