Theory test: multiple choice

The first part of the Theory Test is a computer-based multiple choice test. And if you wish, you can have 15 minutes to work through a practice session. Staff at the centre are on hand to help you with any difficulties.

The test will include questions on the following subjects:

Once the test has started, you will have forty minutes to complete it. There are 35 questions, of which you have to get at least 30 correct. Forty minutes is normally plenty of time, so take your time, and read each question carefully. With a multiple choice test of this nature, mistakes are often made by thinking you recognise the question and then not answering the question that is actually being asked.

If you have no idea what the answer is, do not leave it blank, but make a reasoned guess (this is not an approach to use when you are in doubt when you are driving a car, but simply good exam technique!). When you have finished, make sure you review your answers.

There will be a short break between finishing this part of the test and moving on to the Hazard Perception Test.
